Parameters of SPD
p>
Specific energy - W/Rp>
The energy dissipated during the discharge of the $I_{imp}$ impulse current during the Class I test. It is expressed in kJ/ohm.p>
Open circuit voltage - Uocp>
This parameter only applies to Type 3 SPDs and corresponds to the maximum acceptable combined wave voltage (maximum value = 20 kV)....p>
Residual voltagep>
The value of the residual voltage across the SPD terminals when subjected to an 8/20 μs current wave of a specific value (e.g., 5 kA)....This behavior does not apply to low-voltage SPDs based on "varistor" technologyp>
Maximum DC Voltage- Ucpvp>
The voltage applicable to the SPD under continuous operating conditions.
Company History
p>
CITEL develops many critical protection components internally....p>
Unique, like each of our clients....p>
The human scale of the company allows for an HR policy that values autonomy, responsibility and engagement....p>
Specialist in overvoltage protection
p>
Historically used by telecom operators, these components are installed at the entry point of telephone lines to secure infrastructures and sensitive equipment.p>
Thanks to numerous patented innovations, CITEL gas discharge tubes are approved by many French and international organizations....p>
Integrated directly into installations, they help to:p>
-
limit transient overvoltages to levels acceptable for equipment,p>
-
safely discharge repetitive surge currents,p>
-
and ensure the reliability and continuity of systems.p>
The origin of overvoltages
Indirects effects
There are three types of indirect electrical effects :
Industrial Surges
This term covers phenomena caused by switching electric power sources on or off.

p>
Impact on overhead linesp>
Such lines are very exposed and may be struck directly by lightning, which will first partially or completely destroy the cables, then cause high surge voltages that travel naturally along the conductors to line-connected equipment. The extent of the damage depends on the distance between the strike and the equipment.p>

p>
Rise in ground potentialp>
The flow of lightning in the ground causes earth potential increases that vary according to the current intensity and the local earth impedance. In an installation that may be connected to several grounds (e.g. a link between buildings), a strike will cause a very large potential difference and equipment connected to the affected networks will be destroyed or severely disrupted.p>

p>
Electromagnetic radiationp>
The flash may be regarded as an antenna several miles high carrying an impulse current of several tenth of kilo-amperes, radiating intense electromagnetic fields (several kV/m at more than 1 km). ...The values depend on the distance from the flash and the properties of the link.p>
The 'Surge Protector' solution
Photovoltaic Surge Protectors
Telecom and Data Line Surge Protectors
Computer Network Surge Protectors
Coaxial Surge Protectors
p>

The photovoltaic grid-connected low voltage power lines may be subject to overvoltages on different networks: AC, DC or communication network. ...p>

Surge protectors for telecom and data transmission equipment could be divided in 3 types:p>
• Surge protectors for telecom networksp>
• Surge protectors for datalines and industrial networksp>
• Surge protectors for Local Area Networks (LANsp>

As is the case in telecom or industrial networks, the installation of surge protectors on data-processing networks is necessary. ...p>

To complete the range of surge protection, CITEL offers a diversified line of coaxial surge protection to protect coaxial feeds and antennas. ...p>
